Watford Palace Theatre Opportunity

Watford Palace Theatre is seeking new Board Members from Watford and Hertfordshire’s thriving business community.

They have ambitious plans to ensure that their local community’s award-winning theatre remains a cultural centre for the long term.
If you love theatre and have legal, financial, and/or management expertise, and could help them build stronger links with local, regional and national businesses, they would love to hear from you.

They’re recruiting in the next couple of weeks so please do get in touch soon so they can talk more about how you could be involved and set up a visit to the theatre for you. Please get in touch with Sam Ford at samantha@watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk

Looking for people who can inspire and change the lives of local children and young people.

Foster carers and adopters provide a stable family support network for local children and young people when they are unable to live with their own family.

Being a foster carer is not something that anyone can do. Yes you need a spare room but you also need bucket loads of patience, have the ability to take the good with the bad and most importantly you need a sense of humour!

It may be that you have your own children or they have grown up and left home, you may have worked with children before or maybe you are considering a career change. Every child is different so we need foster carers and adopters who can embrace their challenges and successes. If you can offer stability and have the passion to make a difference then we want to hear from you.

We offer allowances, round the clock access to advice & full training. For more info call 0800 9170925 or visit: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/fostering

VWV celebrates new offices and brings Watford businesses together for an evening of entertainment

Award winning law firm Veale Wasbrough Vizards (VWV) has celebrated its new offices in the heart of Watford’s business district after expanding into the area earlier this year.

On 3rd November, VWV hosted a drinks reception to celebrate its new office. The reception brought together VWV’s colleagues, clients and friends from across Watford, the northern Home Counties, London, and beyond.

Richard Phillips, Watford Office Partner commented: “We were all delighted that so many clients, colleagues, businesses and friends were able to join us for this a great event. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our new offices and continuing to embed VWV in the Watford business community".

Make it your business to know consumer rights

Hertfordshire County Council’s Trading Standards service is calling on businesses to brush up on their knowledge of consumer rights legislation, in light of new research.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has revealed that just 45 per cent of UK businesses claim to know the rules on unfair terms as set out in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, while 18 per cent admitted to not having heard of them.

Business owners and managers in Hertfordshire can remind themselves of how to treat customers fairly and what constitutes an ‘unfair term’ through guides and videos published by the CMA.

Richard Thake, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said “Consumers often have little choice but to accept terms and conditions, so it’s vital that businesses abide by the law and offer a fair deal. The CMA’s guides are a way of helping businesses understand their obligations and our trading standards team is also on hand to advise businesses in need of support.”

Companies in Hertfordshire can contact the Trading Standards business advice hotline on 01707 281401 and the CMA’s guides are available here
